The school was founded by the Roman Catholic mission in 1954. The school is recommended as one of the most influential schools, based on the capacity of hardworking teachers in cooperation with student leadership. This tends to encourage their colleagues to focus on their studies effectively, and in terms of academical performance, is portrayed as the leading secondary school in public examinations such as BASIC EDUCATION CERTIFICATE EDUCATIONS (B.E.C.E) as well as the higher WEST AFRICAN SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL EXAMINATION COUNCIL. CKC primarily serves Sierra Leone, but also has international students from Liberia, Gambia, Ghana and Nigeria. Several prominent politicians and business have graduated from CKC. ==History== CKC was originally built by the Roman Catholic missionaries of the Holy Ghost Order under Reverend Michael Corbett, from Mitchelstown, County Cork, Ireland. The original site later became the St Francis primary school.
